B.J Thomas ~ RIP

I had such a crush on both him and Mac Davis. Beautiful man, singer, humanitarian. It’s hard when our heroes and crushes pass.

B.J. Thomas — the famous crooner behind hits like “Hooked on a Feeling” — has died.

The singer’s management team announced Saturday that Thomas had passed away of complications from stage 4 lung cancer … which he’d been diagnosed with in March. He’d been receiving treatment at a Texas hospital, and was hopeful for a recovery.

It’s reported Thomas died at his home in Arlington.

BJT is perhaps best known for singing the classic “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head” — which was featured in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” — winning an Academy Award for Best Original Song and nominated for a Grammy in 1970 for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/?enablejsapi=1&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tmz.com&widgetid=1

Even before that, he had hit the charts with major success with his love song for the ages … performing “Hooked on a Feeling,” which garnered him mainstream success and going on to sell over a million records. He’s also remembered for a famous cover of “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” — not to mention for singing the theme song to ‘Growing Pains’ … ‘As Long As We Got Each Other.’

‘Hooked’ went on to be covered over and over again as the years went on — and it became a staple for Valentine’s Day … serving as the song stuffed animals would sing when you pressed a button. The band Blue Swede did the most famous cover — and the tune was even featured on “Guardians of the Galaxy” … included in Star-Lord’s throwback playlist.https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/?enablejsapi=1&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tmz.com&widgetid=2

Thomas went on to have more success with songs like “Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song,” “Rock and Roll Lullaby,” “I Just Can’t Help Believing,” “Don’t Worry Baby,” “Whatever Happened to Old-Fashioned Love” … as well as several gospel albums such as “Home Where I Belong.”

He’s survived by his wife Gloria Richardson and his three children. Thomas was 78.

Beta Readers? Proofreaders?

Hey blogpeeps! So, I have been working on a book and am about halfway done. I could use help and advice. I understand the next step in this process is having grammer experts/proofreaders look over the story and they tell me whether to go back to my day job or call me the next James Cudney https://thisismytruthnow.com/as a writer. A wonderful reviewer like Kim over at https://cadburypom.wordpress.com/ is what I need!

So, the question is, where do we find those beta readers or proof readers? Or do I call an editor? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

7 years ago this morning (sad post)

It’s been 7 long years today, that I had to say goodbye to my beloved tabby Ollie. My baby boy, my ultimate joy, my bestest friend of 17 years. I still miss hím everyday, he was my heart, my world. I pray he hears me and knows how loved and missed he is.

National Poetry Month

In honor of such, I am sharing a couple of my own.

Daily Symphony

Each day plays a song

calls to my heart

& tugs at my soul

Singing softly:

“Embrace life

Embrace love

Face your fears

Be strong”

Hours go too quickly

moments gone

I close my eyes

and hear

birds

wind

river

Life is singing

symphonic

and I refuse

to turn a deaf ear to it

Aria

Throughout my life

so many times

I heard the songs of love

but never could hold the rythym

close to me.

You were a prayer

softly whispered on my lips

that’s how i’m certain

that you are a gift to me.

Your love has put music

in my heart

and the melody plays

continuously in my soul.

Like an artist’s brush

you have carefully stroked my whole life

creating a painting

depicting a forever love

no matter if we’re

running in the rain

laughing

or holding each other through the night

I wear your love

head to toe covering me…

giving me strength

and feeling so completely

uninhibitedly safe from harm

and very loved.

You have all of me, my love

for always.
